I have some extremely exciting news for you, today Superdrug launches a brand new skin care line as part of it's Optimum collection. Optimum has offered high tech skincare at high street prices for over 10 years, their new launch is the PhytoDeluxe range for women aged 40+ and includes 2 new products, the PhytoDeluxe Indulgent Day Cream and the PhytoDeluxe Comforting Night Cream.
The most indulgent Swiss skincare generally comes with a high price, especially when it is harnessing the latest ingredients and technology. However today sees Superdrug reveal the latest in it's Optimum collection of skincare, the Optimum PhytoDeluxe which offers Harrods style deluxe ingredients at a high street price.
Optimum PhytoDeluxe is based on the latest Swiss skincare ingredient Black Diamond Truffle. Truffles are known to be one of the most deluxe ingredients in the culinary world, now a secret process has been developed to capture the truffles unique rejuvenating power, it's delicate core is rich in amino acids which can help to tone the skin and improve moisture balance, the exact same ingredient can be found in some of the worlds most luxurious and expensive skincare treatments including some moisturisers with a price tag of over £200.
To compound the luxurious nature of the new Optimum collection the PhytoDeluxe also contains an active derived from the most precious metal, platinum. Platinum Matrix-EM is the ultimate ingredient in luxury skincare for mature skin, it is clinically proven to boost the synthesis of collagen I and III, helping to reduce the visible appearance of fine lines and improve the skins hydration level and elasticity.
The packaging of both the day and night cream is sleek and sophisticated, the boxes are silver with the night cream being a darker silver in colour so it's easy to differentiate between the two products, on the box in the upper right hand corner it has 40+ making it easy to choose which product is for you. On the back of the boxes are some details about the product with directions for use, the details are very clear and easy to read. The products are suitable for vegetarians and both boxes feature the leaping bunny symbol.
Once inside the box the day and night cream are housed in silver plastic bottles with a pump for application and a transparent lid. I really like the packaging it is extremely functional but sleek and sophisticated too and looks lovely on my dresser. The wording on the bottles is clear and easy to read and again there are directions for use on the back.
Optimum PhytoDeluxe Indulgent Day Cream - £14.99
The PhytoDeluxe Indulgent Day Cream is designed to deeply nourish the skin for those aged 40+ and is for daily use, it aims to improve the skins texture by firming and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, giving a more radiant, smooth and supple complexion. The day cream includes Vitamin E with it's rich antioxidant properties to help shield the skin from free radical damage and also includes Pro -Vitamin B5 which is renowned for it's moisturising and conditioning effect on the skin.
My First Thoughts
The day cream is a white, light in texture cream which applied beautifully to my skin, it sank it nicely and didn't leave a residue of any sort, it has a nice light fresh subtle scent which doesn't linger. I have extremely dry and dehydrated skin that can appear really dull, my skin felt immediately soft and smooth and incredibly nourished and had a lovely luminescent glow after using the day cream just once and I was really impressed that after one use I could feel and see my skin looked better.
Optimum PhytoDeluxe Comforting Night Cream - £14.99
The PhytodDeluxe Comforting Night Cream has been created to pamper the skin with luxurious ingredients while actives effectively counteract the visible signs of ageing. The velvety rich texture provides deep nourishment and regeneration leaving skin feeling instantly soft and comforted, smoothing fine lines while improving the skin's elasticity and firmness.
My First Thoughts
The night cream is again white in colour and has a richer texture to it than the day cream as I would have expected, but doesn't feel heavy or greasy at all. I loved the way this made my skin feel from the first time I used it, it applied well and sank into my skin nicely without leaving any residue and my skin felt instantly nourished and soft and smooth. I have extremely dry and dehydrated skin so something that makes my skin feel soft and smooth instantly is practically unheard of. Usually I have to use a very rich night cream that takes a long time to sink in for my skin to feel half as nourished but with the PhytoDeluxe it felt lovely and soft and smooth in an instant. I noticed my skin had a lovely glow to it the morning after too and even after cleansing my skin looked lovely and luminous.
Overall Thoughts
I was really impressed with both the PhytoDeluxe day and night cream the first time I used both products and could feel and see a difference in my skin immediately, I have used skincare products with a much higher price tag and not had the same instant results. The products feel very luxurious, I felt as if I was applying much more expensive products to my skin, the packaging is sleek and looks lovely on my dresser and £14.99 each is an incredible price for these products they look and more importantly feel like they should be so much expensive.
I like the way both of the creams apply and that they don't leave a residue on my skin, they have a nice subtle scent and both sink into my skin beautifully. My skin feels soft and smooth and instantly nourished as soon as I apply them and my make up applies well and looks lovely when applied after using the day cream. I've noticed my skin looking more luminous since I've been using the creams every day and my skin is noticeably softer and smoother and feels so much better, I am really impressed with both products. My skin is very dry and dehydrated meaning it can appear dull and lacklustre I also have fine lines on my forehead and under and around my eyes because of the dehydration and fine lines around my eyes because of my age, I have found my skin looks brighter and more luminous but also plumped up meaning the fine lines I have due to dehydration aren't as obvious which is fantastic and something I am very pleased about, however I haven't been using the products for long enough to be able to tell if they have made an improvement to the wrinkles around my eyes.
My skin looks plump, soft and smooth whilst being more luminous and having a nice glow, I am so impressed with both the day and night cream and cannot believe the amazing results I have had from such affordable skincare products, I have used moisturisers with price tags 3 times as expensive as the PhytoDeluxe and not had the same great results, I am absolutely thrilled.
