Our Christmas Day 2015

Hello Lovelies

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and Christmas day I did and today I thought I would share with you my Christmas day with my family and some of photographs we took of our day.

We had decided between us all on Christmas eve that we would get up no earlier than 7.30am, it's lovely that our girls still get very excited about Christmas, they are 18 and 24 now and I used to worry when they were little that once they didn't believe in Father Christmas anymore it wouldn't be as magical but it really is just as special, this year I was super lucky to win an Elf On The Shelf by entering a competition on the lovely Sandra's Instagram, we have wanted an elf for a few years now but couldn't afford one so I was so happy when I won one, he arrived in time for the 1st of December and we named him Oscar. We had lots of fun throughout the advent period, Simon hid Oscar the elf every night and every morning both girls loved finding him so Christmas really is still just as exciting and special now the girls are grown up as it always was. We still put out a mince pie and a drink for Father Christmas and a carrot for Rudolph on Christmas eve and the girls sprinkle reindeer food outside, if you have small children and are worried that once they grow up or don't believe anymore it won't be as magical please don't worry because if you keep up your family traditions and the magic it can still be just as magical as when they were small.

Christmas Day

Lissy was first up in our house on Christmas day and she came in our room at 7.30am to get me and Simon up and wished us both Happy Christmas and gave us big hugs then she went upstairs to get Cole up whilst Simon sorted me out and put his contact lenses in, once we were all up and sorted we went downstairs. Simon always goes downstairs first so he can go into the lounge and check to see if "he's been" the eaten mince pie and missing carrot in the kitchen are a dead giveaway however he still has to check.

Father Christmas had well and truly been and we all received some lovely gifts, I was spoilt rotten and received some beautiful gifts and will have a "what I got for Christmas" post coming soon so if you would like to see what I got then keep your eyes peeled for that post. We all opened our presents, the girls opened theirs and showed myself and Simon what they got and then Simon opened his and then I opened mine, we all got some really lovely things. Once we had cleared away the wrapping paper and made some room in the lounge because you literally couldn't find 1 square foot of space to stand on we all relaxed and looked at our gifts, my parents rang and my sister rang too and I received lots of text messages off friends and family and we just had a nice relaxing time until we started to get ready for the day.

Once we were all ready we took some family photographs around the Christmas tree, we do this every year, it is lovely to look back on them. My parents came to us for Christmas and it was lovely as it always is, Simon is an incredible cook and our Christmas dinner was absolutely amazing! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and we were all very full, we pulled our crackers and shared the hilarious (note the sarcasm) jokes and compared prizes, we then relaxed in the lounge and let our dinner go down and had dessert later as we were all too full after our dinner, my mum always makes a summer fruits creme brûlée and it is incredible so we had a choice of that or Christmas pudding and custard, cream or brandy sauce and mince pie with or without cream or custard, I chose creme brûlée and it was divine.

My evening was spent with my lovely family all of us together spending time together and it was perfect, I have had an awful 2015 so being with my girls and Simon and my parents was the perfect Christmas, we also had Coles boyfriend Chris round too for Christmas and he said he really enjoyed it, my parents had a lovely time too so a good time was had by all, it was the perfect day for us all.

I thought I'd share with you some of our photographs that we took around our tree.

So that was our Christmas day, a day spent with the most important people in the world to me and a day spent with love and laughter and spending quality time and making memories, after all it is who is around your Christmas tree with you and not what is under it that matters the most and the best people in the world were around ours and I loved it, we had a wonderful day surrounded by those we love and it was absolutely perfect!

How did you spend Christmas? Do you have any traditions? I'd love to know how you spent your Christmas day.

Thank you for reading, much love as always
