Alpecin Double Effect Caffeine Shampoo - Review

Alpecin Double Effect Caffeine Shampoo

Hello Lovelies

You may have read in my recent fashion and beauty haul (see post here) that I purchased the Alpecin Double Effect Caffeine Shampoo, I'd read a blog review on it and thought it sounded like it was worth a try and might help my current hair woes.

Alpecin claims that the shampoo has two stages, during stage one the shampoo loosens scaly, keratinous cells and helps remove dandruff from the scalp and with stage two the caffeine penetrates into the hair root to help strengthen it against hair loss.

I was particularly interested in stage two of the process, my hair falls out a lot and is very thin, it is something that has been getting me down more and more, I have recently had some layers put in my hair to make it appear and feel thicker, I've had a lot cut off the length but nothing works and it is still coming out in handfuls every time it's brushed.

I've been using the shampoo for around 6 weeks now and to be honest there isn't any difference in my hair loss, I have changed my brush and that has helped, you can read all about that in this post
but the shampoo unfortunately hasn't done anything, I'd read that it helped with hair growth and oily hair too and unfortunately I haven't noticed either of those things either, I suppose everyone is different and what works for one person won't for another.

My hair does feel nice when I use the shampoo, I'm not overly keen on the scent of it, it smells a bit medicinal but it does leave my hair feeling nice, the shampoo works into a nice lather and is lilac in colour which surprised me, I'm not sure why but I imagined it to be clear,  it works well at cleansing my hair, I don't use hair products but I do have very oily hair and it does cleanse my hair but I haven't noticed any change in the oiliness and the shampoo isn't any where near as good as other shampoos I use that are aimed at oily hair.  There isn't any difference in the growth speed of my hair and unfortunately my hair loss remains the same.

I won't be purchasing this shampoo again because it didn't work for me if you would like to give it a try, you can find it on the Superdrug website HERE for £7.49 or the Boots website HERE for £7.99.

Have you tried this shampoo? Did it help with your hair loss? Chat with me in the comments and let me know.

Thank you for reading, much love as always
