Maybelline Master Contour V Shape Duo Stick Review And Swatches

Maybelline Master Contour V Shape Duo Stick Review And Swatches

Hello Lovelies

You may have seen in my HUGE beauty haul post at the beginning of August, that I picked up the Maybelline Master Contour V Shape Duo Stick, a cream contour and highlight stick. I had seen it on a you tube video and thought it looked like it would be easy to use and being a cream product, would be good for my dry skin. Since buying it I have seen a lot of blog posts about it all saying how brilliant it is, so I was really looking forward to trying it out for myself.

The Master Contour V Shape Duo Stick is available in 2 shades, light and medium and I have the shade light. The stick is split into two halves and has the contour shade on one side and the highlight on the other, it is shaped into a v at the top and the product is dispensed via a twist up applicator on the bottom of the tube.

The product has a nice creamy texture and applies effortlessly, both shades are matte which I prefer and the product can be easily blended using a makeup brush, makeup sponge or the fingers, I have used all 3 methods of application and find all give the same finish so it is entirely a personal choice. I have noticed that the two colours do sometimes blend into one another on the stick and I have to wipe the contour colour off the highlight, it's no big deal but worth a mention as the shades don't always stay separate.

I have to say, I am really disappointed with this product, you just can't see it on my skin at all, there is no difference at all when I use it, the first time I used it, I blended the product onto my skin using my fingers and wondered if that was the problem, so the next time I used a brush but got the same results and I have since used various brushes and a Beauty Blender but still I get the same results.

I have used the v stick on Snapchat when doing my makeup and asked if it is just me that can't see the product, I showed where I applied the product and then showed my face when the product had been blended and everyone agreed with me that you just cannot see the product at all and I didn't look any different. I am pale so I am positive that light is the correct shade for me, but I cannot see any difference at all when I've used the product, I have now used it 10 times and more just to make sure it isn't me and it isn't, the product isn't visible and I'm not saying I expect big brown stripes down my face, under my jaw and on my forehead, I wanted a nice subtle contour and highlight but there's subtle and theres non existent and this is definitely the latter.

I bought the v shape duo stick as I thought it would be easy to use, great for my dry skin and a nice simple product that I could pop into my makeup bag meaning less bulk since both products are in the one tube. It is a really simple product to use, it applies well and the consistency of the contour and highlight is a lovely creamy texture that blends well but you just can't see where I have applied it and for me there is no point contouring and highlighting if you can't see it, I would rather not waste my time.

In the photographs above I am wearing the product in one of the photographs and not the other, can you see a difference?

I am really disappointed because I wanted to love the product, it seemed great on all the blog posts I have read, and believe me, there are a lot of rave reviews on this product, surely it can't just be me? I hope not.
