A Sparkly Winter Makeup LookTuesday, January 10, 2017
Today I have something a little bit different, it's my first ever makeup look post so I am a little nervous but I asked on Instagram (follow me here) if you would like me to write a makeup look post and I got an extremely positive response, so today I am giving it a go.
The look I am sharing with you today is a winter makeup look with added sparkle, it is a look that can be worn during the day but can also be taken from day to night should you wish, and is very easy to create. I will let you know all the products I used and how I used them and there will be links to buy each item should you wish to do so.
So here goes, here is my day to night Winter makeup look with sparkle, before applying any products to my face, I had carried out my skin care routine (post coming soon).
Primer - Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer - £28.00 - I apply that all over my face, it is incredible if you have dry or dehydrated skin (post here) once the primer had sunk into my skin, I spritz my skin with the Pixi Glow Mist - £16.00 - This can be used before and after makeup, I love to use it before, and find it makes such a difference to the way my foundation looks (post here).
Under Eye Corrector - Bobbi Brown Corrector - £19.50 -I use the shade light to medium bisque (post here).
Foundation - L'Oreal True Match - £9.99 - Shade 2C, this gives a medium coverage but is buildable and it doesn't transfer at all, once applied it stays in place and it lasts for hours, it gives a lovely coverage but doesn't look heavy or cakey on the skin (post here).
Concealer - MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer - £16.00 - This is fabulous if you have dry or dehydrated skin or if you have fine lines under or around your eyes as it doesn't settle, I use it under my eyes after foundation and also bring it down a little onto the tops of the cheekbones and pop a little down the centre of my nose also (post here).
Powder - MAC Studio Fix Perfecting Powder - £21.00 - This powder is a loose powder and is said to give an "Instagram filter finish" to the skin, it is very light and has been my go to powder since I received it (post here).
Blush - MAC Mocha - £18.50 - Mocha is a lovely neutral powder blush with a matte finish, I love it for this time of year and it accompanies any lip colour perfectly (post here).
Highlight - Gosh Contour 'n' Strobe Kit In Light - £12.99 - I used the highlight from the Gosh kit, it gives a lovely highlight that isn't too over the top so it won't give you that glitter ball face look, I also used this highlight in the inner corner of my eyes and under my brow bone (post here).
Primer - MAC Paint Pot In Painterly - £16.00 - I love to use this if I'm using a cream shadow, It does work well under powder shadows too but I find it brilliant to use under a cream shadow (post here).
Eyebrows - NYX Brow Pencil In Taupe - £7.00 - This is a great product, it has a spoolie on one end and the pencil on the other, it is super fine so great for drawing individual hairs and it is a great shade for me (post here).
Eyeshadow - Maybelline Colour Tattoo In Permanent Taupe - £4.99 - As I said this is a really simple look to create and the colour tattoo is the only shadow I used. I applied some of the colour tattoo onto my lid using a small shadow brush and then blended it out up to and just above my crease using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, using the same small shadow brush I took some of the colour tattoo under my lower lash line and then blended again with the fluffy brush.
Glitter - MAC Reflects Pearl - £16.00 - Using the same small shadow brush that I applied the colour tattoo with, I picked up some of the glitter on my brush and dabbed it lightly onto my eyelid.
Mascara - Estee Lauder Sumtuous Infinite Daring Length & Volume Mascara - £21.00 - this mascara is so good, I wouldn't ever usually buy a high end mascara but after having a sample of this and loving it and also being given so many compliments on my lashes when I wore it, I decided to bite the bullet and buy one, it is brilliant (post here).
Lip Liner - Rimmel Moisture Renew Lip Liner In Universal - £3.99 - This is a great lip liner, it is colourless so can be used with any shade of lipstick, I use it if I don't have a liner to match my lipstick or if I have a lipstick that bleeds or feathers. I don't fill my lips in fully with the liner, I simply line my lips with it (post here).
I hope you like the finished look, unfortunately the glitter doesn't come off as well on the photographs as it did in reality, it looks shimmery on the photographs but it did look glittery in reality. The look isn't too sparkly and can be worn day or night or if it is a bit much for a daytime look for you, you could wear the look without the glitter during the day with a nude lip and then add a little more colour tattoo to the lid and pop the glitter over it and change the lip to the dark lip and you have a night look, I have worn this look during the daytime a few times and haven't felt it was too much, but it is all personal preference isn't it?
I think if I do another makeup look post, there are things I would do differently, however this was my first makeup look post so it's a learning curve I suppose. Please let me know if you would like to see more makeup looks on the blog, the response I got from Instagram was very positive and I posted 4 looks on there but I would like to know if you would like to see more also.
Thank you for reading, much love as always
