Makeup Brushes And Tools From The Body ShopTuesday, March 14, 2017
I love getting and trying new makeup brushes, so when I received a parcel from The Body Shop containing some makeup brushes from their new brush range and one of their silicone brush cleaners, I was very excited to try them.
I received 3 brushes, they are the Buffing Brush, the Flat Shader Brush and the Doubled Ended Eyeshadow Brush, plus a Silicone Brush Cleaner. I have been using them for the last few weeks now and thought it was about time I let you know my thoughts on them.
The makeup brushes have sustainably sourced FSC wooden handles with The Body Shop logo written on them in white, they have a black metal ferrule and cruelty free bristles and are totally vegan.
Buffing Brush - £14.00
The Buffing Brush is ideal for applying foundation, I have also used it to buff in my cream blush, contour and highlight and it worked well for those too, but I have mainly used it for applying foundation and it is lovely, it buffs my foundation into the skin nicely and gives a nice flawless finish. The bristles are so soft, they feel lovely, the bristles are charcoal coated and densely packed and cruelty free. The brush washes and dries really well and I haven't experienced any shedding at all, my youngest daughter also tried this brush as she loves this style of brush to apply her foundation, she really likes it and it even seems to have made it's way into her makeup bag!
Flat Shader Brush - £8.00
The Flat Shader Brush also has charcoal coated bristles like the Buffing Brush, again the bristles are really soft. I like to use the brush to smudge out colour along my upper and lower lash line but I have also used it to pack colour onto my lid, I do prefer to use it to smudge out colour and it is brilliant for applying and smudging out black eyeshadow or liner along my upper lash line. A really handy brush to have in my collection, it also washes and dries really well too.
Double Ended Eyeshadow Brush - £10.00
When I first received the Double Ended Eyeshadow Brush, I didn't think I would get much use out of it at all, but the first time I used to I really liked it, I love to use the angled side to apply shadow to the outer corner of my eye and my transition shade and the blending side is brilliant at blending out shadow, this brush is so soft and feels divine, I really like it, I also use the angled side to pop some highlight under my brow bone.
All 3 brushes are brilliant, they all feel super soft, they perform well, wash and dry well and none of them have shed at all. I have used the eye brushes for both cream and powder products and they work equally well with both. All the brushes are beautifully made, feel lovely to use and look classy too, I love the wooden handles and dark bristles. There are 10 brushes in the range and all look lovely, I would definitely recommend checking them out, all the brushes are available on The Body Shop website here prices start at £8.00.
Silicone Brush Cleaner - £5.00
I hadn't ever used one of the silicone brush cleaners before so I couldn't wait to use it and see if it would make any difference to cleaning my brushes. The brush cleaner is easy to use and it fits over the fingers comfortably, I use it on my index and middle finger as shown in the above photograph. I wet my brush, dab it in my solid brush cleanser and then swirl and rub my brush onto the silicone brush cleaner, my brushes take seconds to come clean, I then rinse my brush and it's done.
Using the silicone cleaner is so much quicker than cleaning my brushes without it and the first time I used it, I was blown away at both how easy it is to use and how well it cleaned my brushes and considering I hadn't ever used one before, now I couldn't clean my brushes without it. My youngest daughter also loves it and uses it weekly to give her brushes a deep clean. The size of the brush cleaner is perfect, it is just the right size for cleaning my brushes but is also the perfect size to fit in my makeup bag along side my makeup brushes so it is readily available when I clean my brushes.
I would definitely recommend the Silicone Brush Cleaner from The Body Shop, it is a fabulous little tool and one I couldn't manage without now, my brushes are clean in no time at all. You can find the brush cleaner on the Body Shop website here for £5.00.
Overall I am really pleased with all 3 brushes and the silicone cleaner from The Body Shop and although I wouldn't normally have looked at The Body Shop to buy my makeup brushes, I definitely will do in the future, they are well made, perform well and cruelty free and the silicone cleaner is fantastic.
