What Skin Needs Hydrating Facial Serum

Those of you who read my blog on a regular basis will know that I have extremely dry and dehydrated skin. My skin really is the bane of my life and unless I use a regular morning and evening skin care routine, my skin looks and feels terrible and wearing foundation is a complete no no. Having several medical conditions means that I am a lot of the time not well enough to apply my skincare products so my skin suffers and recently with my health not being great and me going through some tough times, my skin has bore the brunt.

A few weeks ago I received the What Skin Needs Hydrating Facial Serum £12.99 30ml. I love trying new skincare brands and products and in particular facial serums as I find they work well with my skin type, so I was looking forward to trying the serum out and now I have been using it for a few weeks, I thought I'd let you know my thoughts on it.

ABOUT WHAT SKIN NEEDS

What Skin Needs is an Australian brand, they use natural ingredients in their products, their products are cruelty free and are suitable for use in pregnancy and during breastfeeding, their products may help with acne, eczema and psoriasis and can be used by all the family, including adults and children over the age of two.

What Skin Needs products are Phyto-Activated with Plantolin. This key ingredient is derived from the Australian indigenous plant Centipeda cunninghamii and is internationally patent-protected for its novel active compounds. It provides a natural synergy of anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activity from one natural source. Once the inflammation is eradicated and the effect of 'free radicals' is controlled the skin can naturally regenerate and replace damaged skin with a healthy renewed appearance.

What Skin Needs Hydrating Facial Serum

I quite like the packaging of the What Skin Needs products, the white and green looks clean and fresh, and the box has information on the product and the benefits of using it which I also find helpful.

"A perfect blend of vitamins and plant extracts to create a light, non-greasy formula combined together to create an easily absorbed oil based facial serum with superior hydrating and skin cell renewal properties. The potent formula penetrates the skins deeper layers leaving you with healthier, younger looking skin. Hydrating Facial Serum is functional skincare for, Scarring & Pigmentation, Hydration & Nourishing, Skin Balancing and Skin Cell Renewal"

MY THOUGHTS

The first time I used the Hydrating Facial Serum, I was pleased to see the pipette/dropper style applicator, I find these kind of applicators useful as I can control the amount of product I apply. I think it is worth mentioning that I personally would call this product a facial oil rather than a facial serum, in my opinion it is a facial oil. I was/am not disappointed with that at all, but I felt I needed to mention it as some people don't like using oils on their skin, however, I love using oils on my skin.

The first time I used the facial serum, I used the amount of product I would use with other brands of facial oil I own and it was far too much, I applied it to my skin and soon realised that I had applied much more than I needed, it was a silly mistake but did show me that the serum was going to last me a while as I needed half the amount of product as with other brands I own.

Once I used the correct amount of product, it applied beautifully to my skin and felt lovely, the serum sank into my skin well and left it feeling extremely soft and hydrated. The scent of the serum is lovely and fresh and not too herbal, I did expect it to have a strong herbal scent which I really don't like, but it doesn't, it has a more citrus scent and is lovely and not overpowering at all.

I have continued to use the facial serum either twice a day or once a day in the evenings, which is my preferred way of using it. I like to use my other skincare products and then lastly use the facial serum using slightly more than needed and let it sink into my skin overnight.

My skin looks and feels lovely after using the facial serum for the last few weeks, it feels soft, smooth and hydrated, I can't comment on any renewal as yet but I do like the way my skin feels and think this is a great product and an affordable price too, I have facial oils in my collection that were much more expensive but don't give me the results this one does and £12.99 is a really good price for such a good product.

I suffer from eczema and psoriasis and have sensitive skin, I haven't experienced any irritation at all since using the serum.

What Skin Needs have a variety of different skincare products on their website which are brilliant for all the family, and I will definitely be taking some of their Soothing Skin Gel with us the next time we go on holiday, it sounds brilliant!
