Sally Hansen Insta Dri Topcoat

Sally Hansen Insta Dri Topcoat

Hello Lovelies,

You all know by now I love anything nail related, I have a rather ridiculously large nail polish collection but I also love to try other nail products and tools too. I recently picked up the Sally Hansen Insta Dri Topcoat after hearing good things about it from my friend Laura and thought I'd give it a whirl, my HG topcoat is the Orly Glosser top coat and has been for years but I am open to trying new things and since the Insta Dri is half the price of the Glosser I thought I'd give it a go and if I loved it as much being half the price would be an added bonus.

What Sally Hansen Say About Insta Dri

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat dries any nail colour in 30 seconds!
If you have wet nails and no time to spare then use Insta-Dri and you'll get long-lasting shine, chip resistance and a great manicure that dries fast and lasts.
How it works:
  • Exclusive acrylic polymer complex dries any nail colour in 30 seconds.
  • Nail colour stays true thanks to UV filters, which prevent fading, yellowing & discolouration caused by sunlight.
  • Superior shine.
How to use: After applying nail colour, wait two minutes then apply one coat of Insta-Dri. Manicure will be dry to the touch in 30 seconds.
My Thoughts
The first time I used the Insta Dri I loved it, it gave my nails an amazing shine and they remained chip free for 5/6 days and looked great, I don't agree with the claims that my nails were dry after 30 seconds, I'd say the drying time was the same as when I use my Orly Glosser top coat they certainly weren't dry after 30 seconds. On the box it says "shine lasts up to 10 days" which is also a little misleading because I would read that to mean the top coat means nail polish will last 10 days and be shiny for the duration, I agree Insta Dri does give a great shine but my nail polish didn't last 10 days. My nails did have a lovely shine and lasted a good few days when I used the top coat, they weren't dry in 30 seconds but they looked nice and very shiny but my biggest gripe with the Insta Dri is that after using it for around 4-5 weeks it has started to go thick and gloopy and I can imagine in a week or so it will be unusable and there is half of the bottle left. My current bottle of Orly glosser I have had since March, almost 4 months, it is used at least 3 times a week by myself and my daughters and isn't thick or gloopy at all and I know 100% it won't end up that way, I've been using the glosser for years and it has never ever gone thick or gloopy and an 18ml bottle lasts me around 8/9 months if not longer.
I agree that the Insta Dri does give an amazing shine, I didn't find it dried my nails in 30 seconds and I'm not happy it has started to become thick and gloopy, the shine is lovely and my nails lasted a good amount of time and had the product not started to become thick and gloopy I think I'd have been really impressed but that has annoyed me.
Overall Thoughts & Would I Re Purchase?
I certainly will not be re purchasing the Insta Dri, I do love the shine it gives and my nail polish lasted well but I am going to have to throw and half full bottle away soon because it will become so thick I can't use it, and although it is half the price of the Orly top coat I love and have used for years, the Orly lasts me around 8 or 9 months at least and so far I've been using the Insta Dri for 4 or 5 weeks and if it carries on in the same vane and continues to go thick and gloopy, I would imagine I will be throwing it away after another couple of weeks so I would have had the bottle for just under 2 months and thrown it away half full but the Orly top coat I love won't go thick and gloopy at all and will last me for months, I use it until it runs out. So although the Insta Dri is half the price it is much more economical for me to continue buying the Orly glosser at £11.00 for 18ml and using it for 9 months than paying £5.99 for 13ml and using it for under 2 months.
I really wanted to love the Insta Dri and on first impressions I thought I was going to, but unfortunately the glooping is something that has put me off, I love the shine and my nails lasted a good amount of time but the glooping is no good as I'll have to throw away my bottle well before it's finished.
I wouldn't recommend the Sally Hansen Insta Dri Topcoat but if you would like to try it, you can find it at Superdrug for £6.95, Boots for £5.99 and Feel Unique for £5.05.
Have you tried the Insta Dri? Did yours go thick and gloopy?
Thank you for reading, much love as always,
Zoe x
