Youngblood Purely The Basics Mineral Cosmetics Kit - Medium

Hello Lovelies,

Youngblood cosmetics is an award winning premium luxury mineral cosmetics brand and is available from Beauty Expert one of my favourite places to buy beauty products online. Youngblood products are paraben, talc, oil, fragrance and cruelty free and their packaging is made from recyclable materials. I had never tried mineral makeup before, having dry and dehydrated skin I've always assumed it would't be right for my super dry skin so when I recently received the Purely The Basics Kit in Medium to try out from Youngblood I was really eager to see if my assumptions were correct.

My Thoughts & Application

As I said I hadn't ever tried any mineral cosmetics before receiving the products from Youngblood always assuming my extremely dry skin would be a problem.

The instruction card that came with the kit was really helpful with extremely clear and easy to follow instructions, on one side of the card there is a description of each product and on the other side there are step by step instructions of how to use each product and in what order. All the products have little holes in the top so you don't waste any product, I found the best way to use them was to tap a little of the product into the lid and then use the kabuki brush provided to apply the products.

I applied the products as instructed on the card, first ensuring my skin was hydrated, I applied the mineral rice setting powder all over my face to prime my face and lock in moisture, next I applied the natural mineral foundation in the shade Honey which is most suited to a neutral skin tone, I actually have a cool tone to my skin but this shade was perfect for my skin tone and as I've recently returned from Greece and have a tan the shade was perfect too, I applied the foundation by using circular motions starting at the outside of my face and working inward as the card instructed and built up the foundation to the coverage I wanted, next I applied the crushed mineral blush to the apples of my cheeks and blending out and upwards towards the outside of my face, I finished off by applying some of the hi-def translucent powder.

I was pleasantly surprised when I started to apply the products, I thought they would be quite hard to work with and that I would struggle to blend them into my skin because it is so dry but I was wrong, the setting powder applied well and left my skin with a matte finish and my pores also looked a lot better too, once I started to apply the foundation I couldn't believe how easy it was to apply I used circular motions and buffed the foundation into my skin, it applied beautifully and with ease and looked lovely and I was left with a lovely glow to my skin, one thing I noticed and was really pleased about was that I didn't need to use any concealer at all, the foundation can be built up so the finish is entirely up to you whether you prefer a light, medium or full coverage, I opted for a light to medium coverage as this is my coverage of choice. The blush is absolutely stunning and is a beautiful pinky/plum shade with a golden shimmer it really is beautiful especially for autumn/winter but would look lovely all year round, I usually prefer a matte blush but Plumberry is stunning with just the right amount of shimmer and I love it! The sample of hi-def translucent powder is great and finished the look off beautifully, I worried when I saw it was a sample size but the amount I used it really isn't a problem as only a tiny amount is needed to dust over the face.

The products are highly pigmented so I only needed to use a small amount of each product and I also use a light hand when applying the products since they are so pigmented, all the products applied beautifully and I was left with a really stunning look and my dry skin wasn't a problem at all, none of the products settled into my dry skin or fine lines I was really pleased with the look and my assumptions of mineral make up were definitely wrong, I honestly thought the make up would look cakey and settle into any fine lines I have or settle into pores but I couldn't have been more wrong, my skin looked amazing even when using the products for the first time, I've had more and more practice with the products now and I love using the kit, the products give me a lovely coverage with a gorgeous glow to my skin and the blush is just stunning, I am completely in love with the kit it's stunning.

Overall Thoughts & Would I Re Purchase?

I would definitely re purchase the Purely The Basics kit and would highly recommend it to anyone and especially if you're like me and always shied away from or been concerned about using mineral cosmetics, Youngblood have a fantastic range of products available from the Beauty Expert website and I will definitely be checking out their other products as the products I've tried have been incredible.

I was completely wrong about mineral make up being wrong for my dry skin and the finished look is beautiful, so many people have complimented me and told me I look well and my skin is lovely which for me is a massive compliment as I struggle so much with my skin. My favourite product would have to be the blush it is stunning and again something that surprised me as I normally much prefer a matte blush to a shimmer one but Plumberry has just the right amount of shimmer and is a beautiful shade too I am in love. The kit also comes in light so if you have a paler complexion there is  a kit for you too.

I am really happy with everything about the Purely The Basics kit the packaging is sleek and classic but sturdy too, the products are incredible and amazingly pigmented meaning a little goes a long way,  the brush washes well and doesn't shed and is easy to use, it is a nice size not too big or small, I honestly cannot think of a negative thing to say about the kit, it would be the perfect gift for any make up lover and it's a fantastic way of trying out both the Youngblood products and if you're a newbie to mineral make up like me it's a brilliant kit to enable you to try it out.

For someone who always thought mineral make up would never work for them, I'm hooked!

If you would like to try the Youngblood Purely The Basics Kit in medium you can find it on the Beauty Expert website here for £39.00 it is also available in light.

Have you tried Youngblood? Do you use mineral make up or have you always shied away from it like I did?

Thank you for reading, much love as always,

Zoe x
