NOTD And Review - Essie It's Genius

NOTD And Review - Essie It's Genius

Hello Lovelies

Today I have a NOTD (nail of the day) post for you and as always I will be sharing with you a review of the nail polish used and not just telling you what I've used on my nails, I find it helpful to know how a polish performs in regards to wear time, application etc and not just seeing how pretty it looks so I always include a review in my nail of the day posts.

I didn't use a base coat silly me forgot, I applied 3 coats of it's genius allowing each coat to dry fully in between, a lot of people ask me why I allow each coat to fully dry and it's because it prevents bubbling, you may have experienced your polish having little bubbles in the finish sometimes and it usually occurs if the polish isn't dry between coats, but can also be because it's not a great polish but because I always allow my polish to dry fully in between coats I know if I get some bubbling it's a bad product and not a rushed application. Once my nails were dry I used my new HG top coat which is the Essie gel setter top coat (full review of that here).

It's Genius is a stunning plum shade with purple undertones and has a very finely milled gold glitter running through it, it is beautiful and absolutely perfect for this time of year, I think it would also make a beautiful Christmassy polish, it was hard to pick out the sparkle on camera but you can see in the photograph I have included of the polish itself that there is a gold glitter running throughout the polish. The Gel Setter top coat gives the polish a beautiful shine and the polish lasted for 7 days on my nails without chipping which is brilliant.

I love Essie polishes and have been using them for many years, I like how they apply and the longevity I get with them especially combined with the top coat. One of the main reasons I buy Essie polishes is because they are free from harmful chemicals and do not contain whats known as the "Toxic Trio" of chemicals that not only damage our nails but also have some serious side effects, I do have a post coming soon on the chemicals in nail polishes and which brands are free from them if that's something that interests you.

Overall I love It's Genius it is a beautiful shade that is perfect for this time of year and I can see me getting a lot of wear out of it over the coming months, it applied well and wore well with the gel setter top coat maintaining that fantastic shine.

If you would like to purchase It's Genius you can find it on the Fragrance Direct website here for just £2.49 or the Boots website here for £7.99 currently 3 for 2 or the Superdrug website here for £7.99 currently 3 for 2 plus a free tote bag and if you'd like to purchase the Essie Gel Setter top coat you will find that on the Boots website here for £9.99 currently 3 for 2.

Thank you for reading, much love as always

Zoe x
