Hello Lovelies
Today I am going to share my thoughts with you on the new Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint nail polishes in the shades Aloha and Flamingo. The new Coconut Infusion range were launched last month and the range includes 9 shades, all the shades are pastel colours with the exception of 2 nude shades.
I chose the shades Aloha a bright pink/coral shade and Flamingo a coral/peach shade, both shades are perfect for me as during the summer months I wear a lot of pink and coral shades on my nails so when I saw the range online I knew I would choose these 2 shades immediately. I have been using the nail polishes for the last couple of weeks now and wanted to share my thoughts on them with you.
What Barry M Say About The Coconut Infusion Range
Barry M Coconut Infusion is an entirely new and innovative Nail Paint formulation. Its unique, caring blend of Coconut Water and Coconut Oil gently hydrates and nourishes nails while delivering a beautifully smooth, gel-like glossy manicure. Enriched with anti-oxidizing properties, the strengthening benefits of patented Hexanal and Vitamins B & C, nails will be repaired and replenished, resulting in a brighter, healthier looking, long lasting finish. Its exclusive High Reflective Resin System offers lustrous shine, fluid coverage and amazing depth of colour.
My Thoughts
Aloha
Pink and coral nails are my favourite for the summer months and I thought Aloha looked like a nice bright pink with coral undertones, because of the hydrating properties of the polishes you don't need to apply a base coat. The directions are to apply 1 thin layer of polish and then a second thin layer, which I did, the polishes have a nice wide brush which I like and find it makes application easier. I did find Aloha slightly streaky and some nails could have done with a 3rd coat but they looked ok, I used my Orly Glosser top coat to give a nice glossy finish. It does say that the polishes give a glossy gel like finish but I don't agree with that claim, they do give a shine but it isn't a glossy gel like finish at all.
The brush on the polishes
I was a little disappointed with the shade if I'm honest, it was a lot darker than it looked in the bottle and was more of a dark pink shade than a bright pink/coral. You can see on the photograph that my nails are streaky on some nails, I had used my top coat in these photographs so they do have a nice glossy finish but that is down to my Orly top coat. I get 2 days wear time out of the polish but I never get a good amount of wear time from Barry M nail polishes, I find the Gelly Hi Shine polishes wear the best on my nails and last really well when I use my Orly top coat but the top coat didn't really make much difference to the wear time with this one.
Flamingo
Again Flamingo is the perfect summer shade for me, it looks in the bottle like a lovely coral/peach shade and I couldn't wait to use it. I applied it in exactly the same way as I applied the Aloha shade and again it was streaky but a lot more streaky than Aloha and I had to apply a third coat because it looked a mess, I used my Orly Glosser top coat again with Flamingo to get a nice glossy shine.
I was disappointed with the shade of Flamingo, it is more orange than peach/coral and doesn't look the same on my nails as it does in the bottle at all, the wear time was exactly the same as Aloha and I got a couple of days wear out of it before it chipped, both polishes removed easily with my acetone free nail polish remover.
Overall Thoughts
I'm afraid I cannot agree with the description Barry M gives of the polishes, my nails didn't feel hydrated,or nourished and the polishes aren't long lasting nor do they provide a gel like glossy finish. I thought the nail polishes both applied ok, I liked that they have a nice wide brush making application easier, both of the polishes apply ok, they are a little streaky and I feel applying 3 coats would be better than the recommended 2. I only get a couple of days wear time out of both shades but that's standard for me and a Barry M nail polish so that doesn't particularly concern me but I am disappointed that neither shade looks the same on the nails as it does in the bottle, I know nail polishes can sometimes look a little different but these look a lot different and had I known they would look so different I wouldn't have purchased them. I won't be re purchasing either shade when they run out purely due to the colour of them.
If you like the shades available in the range and want a nice summery nail polish then I would say go for it and purchase them but the new coconut infusion formula didn't wow me and is nothing ground breaking, I didn't notice any difference in my nails at all so I certainly wouldn't buy them for the formula, but on the whole they're not a bad product, they are standard for the brand I would say, my only negative is the shade not being as I thought, other than that they are ok, nothing groundbreaking though I'm afraid.
