I love trying new makeup brushes out and especially when it's a brand I really like. I have tried quite a few different makeup brushes and sponges from the brand Brushworks, and I have yet to try a product of theirs that I dislike. So when I received the Complexion & Makeup Kit to try, I was really pleased and excited to try it out.
The Brushworks Complexion & Makeup Kit contains 2 brushes and a makeup sponge, the brushes are the Angled Contour and Powder Kabuki brushes. All the tools are suitable for use with powder and liquid products, cruelty free and vegan friendly and the sponge is high quality and latex free.
Powder Kabuki Brush
The powder kabuki brush has a densely packed brush head but still has plenty of movement so is perfect for applying foundation or powder. I prefer to use it with foundation and find it gives a nice finish and my foundation looks lovely, but it is also great for applying powder using circular motions and doesn't cake the powder on which for me, having dry skin is important. The brush doesn't use too much product and washes and dries well, and it's pink, so it's a win win for me.
Angled Contour Kabuki Brush
The angled kabuki brush is also densely packed but like the powder kabuki, it does have plenty of movement. It is ideal for applying blusher and bronzer to the face but can be used for foundation too. I prefer to use it for blusher and bronzer and find it works equally well with both cream and powder products, it blends the product into the skin beautifully, giving a flawless finish. Like the powder kabuki the angled kabuki brush washes and dries well and has kept it's shape, and again, it's pink.
Complexion Sponge
The egg shaped ergonomic complexion sponge is a great sponge, I use it damp to apply my foundation and also use it to apply my powder sometimes too, depending on the coverage I want but 9 times out of 10 I use it solely for applying my foundation. The sponge is great and doesn't soak up my foundation as much as the brushes meaning I use less, but to be fair the brushes don't soak up too much.
I use the rounded end to apply my foundation all over my face and the pointed end to apply my foundation around my nose and eye area. The pointed end of the sponge is also great for applying my corrector and concealer under my eyes and for applying contour, I then use the rounded end for buffing the contour into my skin. I love the finish I get with my foundation when using the sponge, I am left with a seamless finish, and it is brilliant for applying cream contour or highlight products too, it's a brilliant sponge and just as good as more expensive makeup sponges I own.
Overall Thoughts
The Brushworks Complexion & Makeup Kit is great little kit and perfect for applying several different products so it brilliant when applying my makeup, I have all the tools I need to apply my base, it would also be a great kit for travelling as the brushes have short handles so don't take much room in my brush bag. All three tools wash and dry well and all have kept their shape despite being washed and dried numerous times.
I have yet to find a Brushworks makeup brush or sponge that I don't like, they are brilliant products and at affordable price, if you would like to try the Brushworks Complexion & Makeup Kit you can find it on the allbeauty website priced at £8.75 which I think is a good price for 2 face brushes and a sponge of such good quality.
