I love make up and I love skin care so when I had the opportunity to try out a new product from MAC combining both I was super excited. It is no secret that I love MAC it is one of my favourite brands and I've been purchasing their products for over 20 years, wow that makes me feel very old!
The new MAC Lightful C 2 In 1 Tint & Serum With Radiance Booster ( £40.00) is a skin care and make up product in one that claims to target a multitude of skin concerns including dark spots, uneven skin tone and dehydration and contains cucumber extract, apple extract, Baikal skullcap extract and vitamin c to promote brightening. I was intrigued to try it out as I suffer with very dry and dehydrated skin so my skin can look dull and I like to use products which will add some much needed brightness to my face.
The packaging is great and really handy especially if you store your make up and skin care together, the bottle is a 2 in 1 with the serum being stored in the bottle and the tint being stored in a screw off compartment at the bottom of the bottle, although I have to say it did take me a couple of minutes to work this out! I personally would prefer the products to be separate as I keep my make up and my skin care separately but it wasn't a huge problem. I would have also preferred the tint to have a pump like the serum but again it isn't a problem just personal preference. The shade I have is light and there are 4 other shades to choose from medium, medium plus, dark and dark deep.
I used the serum from the Lightful C as part of my skin care routine as directed on the box of the product and the first thing I noticed was the scent, it smells lovely really fruity and fresh, I am not a huge fan of products containing silicone and I could feel the silicone in the serum as I applied it but it applied beautifully and sank into my skin nicely leaving my skin feeling soft and hydrated, I applied my moisturiser on top and then used the tint, when I started to apply the tint I worried it would be too pale for me but it did work and blended into my skin well, I do feel paler skin tones than me could also use the shade light.
The tint alone didn't offer me much coverage at all and as I said was a little too light in shade for me, it wasn't horrendous and it worked but I felt it was a little too light. The tint applied well and blended into my skin nicely with my fingers, you can use a brush to apply it also. I didn't get much coverage at all with the tint, I used it under foundation as a skin brightener rather than a base product, the tint would be nice as something to wear when you just want a bit of something and not much make up.
Overall Thoughts & Would I Re Purchase?
I never thought I'd hear myself say this (or write this) but I wasn't impressed at all by the Lightful C 2 in 1 Tint & Serum, the serum felt nice but I have ones I much prefer and the tint was ok but it was nothing groundbreaking at all and for the price I think it is expensive, I didn't notice that my skin looked radiant at all or any more glowing and personally I don't think it's worth the £40 price tag and wouldn't purchase this for myself. I love MAC products and I had such high hopes for this and I am really disappointed to say it just didn't work for me, I think there are better serums out there and better tinted base products too in my opinion.
If you would like to try the Lightful C 2 In 1 Serum & Tint With Radiance Booster you can find it on the MAC site for £40.00 here.
