I personally feel that stocking fillers or secret Santa gift idea's can be quite difficult to find, things are so expensive these days (when did I turn into my parents?) and finding a gift for someone that is around £5/£10, which is the secret Santa budget that seems most popular, can be quite difficult. So when I was thinking about my Christmas gift guide posts for this year, I wanted to make sure I included some gift idea's suited to stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts that are around £5 to £10 mark and sometimes less than £5 where possible and today is the first of those posts.
The Brush Works HD Complete Midi Sponge Set £6.99 from Fragrance Direct is a great secret Santa or stocking filler idea for any beauty lover or anyone who wears makeup. Beauty sponges are something I use every time I wear makeup, up until a few years ago I hadn't ever tried a beauty sponge but now they are my favourite thing to apply my foundation and concealer as they give such a flawless finish, and I also use them to apply other products too.
This set of 4 different shaped sponges is brilliant and definitely something I would be happy to find in my stocking or as a secret Santa gift, all 4 sponges are made from the highest quality hydrophilic material and are latex free.
The Brush Works HD Complete Midi Sponge Set contains 4 sponges all different colours and shapes, the set contains
* Orange - Midi Ellipse Sponge
* Green - Midi Egg Sponge
* Purple - Midi Cone Sponge
* Pink - Midi Complexion Sponge
All 4 sponges can be used for several purposes and some I like to use to apply certain products. All 4 expand when wet and to use the sponges I wet them by running under warm water and then squeeze out the excess so the sponge is damp but not wet. When I first received the sponges I didn't know if they would be big enough to use to apply my foundation, but they are perfect and a brilliant size as they can be used for foundation but also other products.
The purple sponge is fabulous for applying my concealer, I use the larger end to apply and blend my concealer to any larger areas on my face and the smaller end is brilliant for using to blend my concealer under my eyes, I also like to use the smaller end to blend out my under eye corrector.
I find the pink sponge brilliant for applying my contour, the pointed end is perfect for applying the contour where I want it and then I use the larger end to buff the contour into my skin and blend it out.
The orange sponge is brilliant for applying and blending out cream blush or highlight, I have dry skin so like to use cream products and especially in winter and this sponge is perfect for my blush and highlight. It is also fabulous for applying my setting powder to set my under eye concealer and on the areas of my face I might need it and sometimes all over my face. I hadn't ever tried a sponge to apply my setting powder until last year, but once I did, I loved the way it looked and depending how my skin is and how it looks, I will use a sponge to apply it.
The green sponge I love for applying and blending out my foundation, the larger end is brilliant for applying and blending my foundation all over my face and the smaller end/tip is great for under the eyes and around the nose.
I really like this set of sponges and all 4 can be used to apply and blend a variety of different products but all 4 are equally as good at applying my concealer and foundation, so if like me you hate washing your makeup brushes and tools, having a set of 4 sponges will at least put of the tedious brush/tool washing task for a little while longer as you can use all 4 to apply and blend your base products. But as I said, they all work brilliantly with other products too. All 4 sponges wash and dry well and retail their shapes.
The Brush Works HD Complete Midi Sponge Set really is brilliant and such a good price too, I have seen it at various prices online, but the best price I have found is from Fragrance Direct where it is £6.99 which for 4 sponges, I don't think is bad at all and I think these would make a brilliant gift without costing you the earth.
