I had never tried anything from The Balm but have always wanted to, I have seen numerous excellent blog reviews on so many of their products and then for Christmas one of my best friends kindly bought me the Mary-Lou Manizer highlight, I was so pleased when I opened it because as I said I have wanted to try The Balm for a long time and I have heard so many great things about the Mary-Lou Manizer highlight, it is most probably the most coveted highlight of the beauty world and I have yet to read a bad review of it, today I am going to share my thoughts on it.
My first thoughts were that the packaging is incredible, I love it! The box has a retro image of a blonde convict pin up girl on the front, the same image is printed on the lid of the compact, the packaging is fun and quirky and it makes me smile. The compact is made from plastic and has a mirror in the lid, it's a good sized mirror and very useful.
If you have been reading my blog for a while you'll know that I've not ever really been a huge highlight fan, I do wear it now and again and like it it but it isn't something I ever buy. I received the Charlotte Tilbury bronze and glow palette for my birthday last February and love the highlight in that palette and have used that quite a lot and I have highlighting products I have received as PR samples but I haven't bought a highlight since buying the Nars multiple in Copacabana around 4 or 5 years ago which I also love. I do wear highlight but only a little as I like a subtle highlight. The Balm describe Mary-Lou Manizer as a "honey hued luminizer that catches everybody's eye. This highlight, shadow and shimmer diffuses light so your skin looks softer and younger while adding a subtle glow".
The first time I used the Mary-Lou Manizer I was completely blown away, I used my Real Techniques setting brush to apply it and used a tiny amount across the top of my cheek bones, the results were incredible! I have never been a huge highlight wearer but this product has completely changed my opinion, I love the way it looks, it's a stunning product, it can also be used as an eye shadow so I am going to try that too and can only imagine it will look lovely.
I'm not the best at taking selfies but this is the photograph I sent to my friend who bought me the Mary-Lou Manizer and I hope you can see just how lovely the highlight is, bearing in mind I have the smallest amount swept over my cheekbones, if you prefer a much more obvious highlight you can apply more to build it up so this is such a versatile product, I always assumed it would be too much for me but I am in love and my only regret is that I didn't try it years ago.
I honestly cannot recommend the Mary-Lou Manizer enough it is stunning and if you are like me and only like a subtle highlight and worry it will be too much please don't it is beautiful and the results it gives are incredible, but if you like more highlight then this is also for you because it can be built up for a more intense highlight should you wish.
If you would like to try the Mary-Lou Manizer you can find it on the Feel Unique website HERE for £17.50 including free delivery or from Superdrug HERE for £17.50.
I use the Mary-Lou Manizer every time I apply my make up now and I am completely converted to loving highlight and all because of this amazing product I just wish I'd found it sooner, but now I have, I'm not letting go!
Have you tried the Mary-Lou Manizer? Have you ever not really liked using a certain product and then one product has completely changed your opinion like me with highlight?
Thank you for reading, much love as always
