Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation And Setting Powder Review

Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation And Setting Powder Review

Hello Lovelies

I'm sure many of you will be able to relate to me when I say I feel like I am always on the hunt for the right foundation, I like to have a light/medium coverage and a medium/full coverage foundation in my collection that I change up depending on the season and the occasion. I do have foundations I like but I am still always on the quest for foundations I adore. I am forever trying samples from different brands both high end and high street/drugstore but have yet to find the perfect foundation for me, so when I received the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation and Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder I was really looking forward to trying them.

Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation And Setting Powder Review

I usually steer clear of full coverage foundations because of my extremely dry and dehydrated skin, I find that despite my full skin care routine and the use of a hydrating primer, a full coverage foundation just doesn't look nice on my skin, I have tried a few and they have all clung to the dryness of my skin and leave me looking cakey and powdery, the foundation I own with the most coverage that I use at the moment has been looking awful recently and I haven't been able to wear it so I was a little worried about trying the Dermablend Fluid Corrective foundation because of it's full coverage. The first time I tried the foundation I had a couple of blemishes on my forehead and chin but I had developed over night an extremely sore and huge blemish near my mouth, I was unsure if this was a blemish or in fact a cold sore but because my skin definitely wasn't looking it's best, I thought it would be a good time to try the foundation.

I have a very pink undertone to my skin and suffer from redness, I also have very dark circles from lack of sleep and having deep set eyes they appear a lot worse, this combined with my breakouts and dry/dehydrated skin does not make for a nice complexion but in order to show you how the foundation performed, I decided to be brave and take a photograph of me wearing no make up at all.

This is me completely bare faced and as you will see from the photograph, I have a lot of redness and also have a few blemishes including the huge one at the side of my mouth, I have a really bad dry patch just above the skin between my eyebrows and my forehead is extremely dry.

I wore my usual hydrating primer under the foundation as I would always wear this under any foundation I wear so I thought wearing the primer would be the fairest test. I applied the foundation with my beauty blender and found it was lovely to apply, I expected it to be thick in consistency but it isn't at all and is easy to squeeze out of the tube. I put a dot of the foundation on my forehead, each cheek, my chin, my nose and my forehead and blended it out with the beauty blender, it blended out beautifully and I didn't need a lot of product at all. I would usually apply a corrector to my dark circles but I didn't because the foundation claims to cover them so I thought the best way to see results was not to apply my corrector. I was immediately impressed with the foundation, it applied beautifully and effortlessly and covered my dark circles and blemishes perfectly. It didn't settle into my dry skin anywhere on my face or into fine lines around my eyes and it didn't make me look cakey or powdery, I was so pleased with the way the foundation looked on my skin and couldn't believe that a full coverage foundation could look so lovely on me given all the nightmares I've had in the past when I've tried other brands and the fact I cannot wear my usual medium to full foundation because it looks terrible.

Opal is a lovely shade for my fair skin and at first when I started to apply it I worried it may be a little yellow toned but it blended beautifully into my skin and was a great match for me. I didn't experience any problems at all when wearing the foundation, I have very sensitive and eczema prone skin and sometimes can react to products but I was fine. The Dermablend Fluid Corrective foundation feels lovely on the skin, it doesn't feel heavy and I wasn't aware of it on my skin throughout the day, I don't like being able to feel foundations on my skin and I couldn't. The foundation covered my dark circles and blemishes, even the big blemish/cold sore really well and I didn't need to apply any concealer to my face at all. The foundation wore well all day, it didn't go patchy or oxidise and I was pleased that it looked just as lovely when I came to remove it 12 hours after applying it. I also really like the fact that the foundation is Paraben free, Non Comedegenic, Hypoallergenic and tested under dermatological control.

Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation And Setting Powder

The Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder forms a protective layer on the surface of the skin to provide further staying power for the Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation, the hold will be extended for up to 2 hours, even in extreme conditions. The powder has a formula with a high tolerance in order to conceal without irritating the skin, it is tested under dermatological and ophthalmological control and is Hypoallergenic, Non Comedogenic, Non Acnegenic and Fragrance Free. Once the pot housing the powder is opened, there is a powder puff type applicator inside and under that is a set of holes where the powder is dispensed. To get the powder out, I found shaking the pot lightly was enough to give me an adequate amount of product.

I used a large duo fibre face brush to apply the setting powder as that is the method I always use when applying powder, the powder is lovely and lightweight, it applies beautifully to the skin and I find I only need a small amount. The powder feels lovely on the skin, it sets the foundation nicely without looking cakey or powdery and gives a lovely finish to my the skin, finding a setting powder is very hard when you have very dry and dehydrated skin and I find there are only a couple of pressed powders I have tried which suit me and I have tried several, but the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder is brilliant and looks lovely on my skin, it sets the foundation nicely and doesn't cake or settle into any fine lines or around blemishes, it looks and feels lovely on the skin.

Overall Thoughts On The Foundation & Setting Powder

I am so pleased with both products and considering I had reservations because of other full coverage products I have used, I really didn't need to worry. One of my friends told me that my skin looked lovely the first time I wore the foundation and powder which is a huge compliment for me as my skin is far from lovely so for someone to point out that they thought it was, is a big deal for me.

In the photograph above I have finished my makeup and applied both the foundation and setting powder, as you can see the shade I had is a good match and there is no obvious change from my face to my neck. The big spot at the side of my mouth covered well as did my dark circles and redness, my pores aren't hugely visible and the patch of very dry skin I have between my eyebrows looks fine and the products didn't settle or cake in that area of my face which is extremely dry or any other dry area's of my face and they didn't settle into my fine lines either which is brilliant and unheard of for me when using a full coverage foundation and finishing with powder.

I am extremely pleased with both the foundation and the powder, the foundation shade in Opal is a great match for my skin, it applied beautifully and my skin looked flawless, the powder feels as light as air and didn't cake at all, it sets the foundation beautifully and my blush blended effortlessly on top of it. My make up wore well throughout the day and looked exactly the same 12 hours after applying it, I am super impressed that my skin didn't look flat at all despite this being a full coverage foundation and it wasn't cakey or powdery looking, my imperfections, dark circles and redness all covered really well and there was no need for me to apply a corrector or concealer which is brilliant considering my dark circles are quite bad and I had quite a few blemishes including the beastly blemish/cold sore near my mouth.

I have worn the foundation and powder several times now and everytime I wear them I am blown away with how good they are, I love that I don't need to apply a corrector or concealer when I use the foundation and I love the way my skin looks, the powder is fantastic and so lightweight, I haven't ever used a powder like it and I love it, another thing I have noticed is that, usually no matter what foundation I wear I will always break out the day after no matter what but I haven't ever had any break outs after using the Vichy Dermablend foundation and powder which is incredible because no matter what foundation I use normally, I will always break out the day after and considering my skin has been bad for the last few months and I have been suffering with breakouts, this is fantastic news and something I am really pleased about. I would definitely recommend trying both these products and if like me you have dry/dehydrated skin and usually struggle with full coverage foundation and wearing a setting powder, I would say, give these a try they are both fantastic products and my skin looks and feels lovely when I wear them. I have definitely found my favourite full coverage foundation and setting powder, I only wish I'd tried them both sooner.

You can buy the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation 30ml on the Boots website HERE for £13.50 (was £18.00) and the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder 28g HERE for £11.25 (was £15.00)
